Dental Sleep Medicine is an emerging field of dentistry where practitioners treat sleep disorders such as snoring and sleep apnea. Dentists who have completed the credentialing process are awarded diplomat status by the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM) and often are affiliated with sleep centers. With their continuing education in oral appliances and sleep medicine, these dentists have become part of a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. The sleep center team includes physicians, dentists, psychologists and sleep technicians.
